About Amalie Arena
Amalie Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena located in downtown Tampa’s Channelside District, serving as the home of the Tampa Bay Lightning of the National Hockey League. The 670,000 square foot venue opened on October 12, 1996 as the Ice Palace and was transformed by a $62 million privately-funded renovation from 2011-2013. The arena features fully plush leather seats throughout, the largest LED-lit video display board of its kind in North America (28 x 50 ft main faces), a 260-speaker sound system, and signature Tesla coils that shoot arcing electricity during Lightning goals. The Lightning have won three Stanley Cup Championships here (2004, 2020, 2021). In August 2025, the arena was renamed Benchmark International Arena.
