About SAFE Credit Union Convention Center
The SAFE Credit Union Convention Center is the centerpiece of Sacramento’s $368 million C3 Project (Convention & Performing Arts District), a transformative renovation completed in 2021 on time and on budget despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The naming rights were secured by SAFE Credit Union for $23 million over 25 years. Originally opened in 1974, the facility underwent a complete reimagining that added over 111,000 square feet of new space, including a new 40,000 square foot ballroom funded by a $50 million contribution from local hotels. The complex is part of the SAFE Credit Union Convention & Performing Arts District, which also includes the SAFE Credit Union Performing Arts Center (2,398 seats), Memorial Auditorium (3,849 seats), and Jean Runyon Little Theater (272 seats). Located in the heart of downtown Sacramento, the facility sits within walking distance of the California State Capitol and Old Sacramento Waterfront, a 28-acre National Historic Landmark.
